Washington Post

About seven years ago I was on a bike ride to Mt. Vernon with my parents and my sisters when a photographer for the Washington Post stopped us and asked to take our picture. Today I was surfing the web when I came across an article printed last month in the Washington Post and our picture was with the article! Seven years later! I think it is so funny, I was a sophomore in high school when this picture was taken. Now I have been in the Deseret News, Detroit News and Washington Post. Sadly only one of those was not a Letter to the Editor... If you want to see the article you can go here.

Project

Just putting this out there for all you in the A2 area.  I think I am going to make these cute paper mache pumpkins if anyone is up for a craft night let me know.  It would be way more fun to do with company!

P.S. Does anyone else love how my posts go from politics to paper mache, random.

You call this a debate?

We are watching the Presidential debate right now and I can't help but think that this is weak. What I really want to see is something similar to the Prime Ministers Questions (where the Parliament gets to ask him questions, and can call them out on what they are saying and doing) , it would be way more fun to watch (it is on C-SPAN every Sunday night, it really is great). I want to have a third person in there telling us what really is fact, they are both so sure that what they are saying is "fact." Well at least they are being more respectful of each other than the candidates were at the Republican and Democratic Presidential debates, so far.

Mom and Dad's visit

This is what we do when Mom and Dad come to town...

We cleaned the carpets and re-painted the tables...

Fruit tart, pumpkin doughnuts and cider.

I don't know anyone who likes Halloween more than my Mom, she helped me make a cheese cloth ghost and bought me some cute decorations.


Jackson is studying most of the time now...

In the same book that gave us instructions on the ghost were instructions on how to make a jester collar for cats. I want to preface this by letting everyone know that we would never have taken the time to make these if we hadn't thought the cats would have a funny reaction to bells around their neck. It didn't disappoint.

Thanks Mom and Dad for all your help, we had a fun week.

Polls

You might have noticed our new polls on the side, I have had a lot of thinking time as of late (Jackson's test schedule is in full swing) and I have noticed a lot of people are getting very into the election (very good in my mind) but I wonder is everyone always this interested or is it the Presidential race that is bringing the politico out in everyone?  Personally I love politics, I always look forward to when I can sit down and have a good discussion/debate with my political friends. I find it interesting, does anyone else?

Here and there

My sister requested that I put up a new post so she doesn't have to see Jackson's gross foot anymore. The only thing I could come up with is from this week at Relief Society. I was asked to be in charge of Voter Information, it was actually really fun for me to rediscover my love for politics. This is a funny video from the Jon Stewart show that I saw today... They also had a swap and I got this awesome hat for Jackson.

My Mom and Dad are in town this week, it has been great. My Mom and I have been working on lots of jewelry, cleaning my carpets and repainting some furniture! I am going to be sad when they leave me next week.

Jackson's foot is still gross, the bruising spread to his toes. The swelling has gone down since last week but it is more painful for him to walk. What a sprain!

The evolution of Jackson's cankle

Just in case the last post didn't gross you out enough, here are some more pictures of how Jackson's ankle has gotten more colorful and bigger- if you can believe it. He did go and get an x ray and it is not broken. The doctors took a lot of measurements because his foot was so abnormally large, they also pulled a lot of other people into the room to look at it.

Jackson couldn't fit his foot into his usual shoes so he had to wear some shoes he bought on his mission because they were slightly bigger.

Ice baths all weekend, the cats are very intrigued by the ice baths.

Disgusting

Jackson came home from basketball tonight with an alien in his ankle. He is sure that it is not broken. I guess that is what you get when you twist your ankle and continue to play basketball, and if you are Jackson and have strange things happen to your feet when you get a sprain... It is way gross.

Achilles Heel

Today during lunch Jackson heard music and wanted to find where it was coming from. You may think he wanted to find it to listen to the band but then you would be underestimating Jackson. He was sure that where there was music there would be free stuff. As you can see he was right. Jackson is a sucker for anything free (although to be fair we did get two pretty cool nalgene bottles out of it.)

When the Utes come to town....

This weekend the Utes came to town and along with them lots and lots of visitors. Jackson was so excited the morning of the game he literally sprung out of bed and said, "Isn't it just like Christmas?" He was very excited.

There was a large red section in the stadium, the Utes impressed many Wolverines by how well we travelled.

The final score, Go UTES! Jackson made sure to take his brothers to his favorite breakfast place, he says that the deep fried french toast is the best food to ever touch his mouth.


We made sure to take all our visitors to the see the Law school, it reminds me of Hogwarts.



To top the weekend off Jackson's sister had her baby this weekend. So we drove to Grand Rapids to see baby Nathan.
