crepes, visits and wheel chairs

We lucked out and Dave came out for another interview. Jackson wore one of his favorite childhood outfits to help make Dave feel at home, mismatched sweats.

Dave unearthed one of Jackson's secrets while he was here. Jackson knows how to make crepes! A secret he has successfully kept for almost five years. No longer, Jackson's cooking repertoire is now up to four!

my mom

Tonight my Mom is on my mind. She fell off a ladder today and broke her left heel and right ankle in five or six places, she will likely need surgery on both. I wish I was there to help you Mom, we love you. Feel better.

Ward basketball season has returned, so far Jackson's team is undefeated.

We went to a UM basketball game last weekend... and a UM hockey game. We must have been bad luck because both lost.

A few more pictures from Christmas Break (still more to come)

Chelsea and I went up to Brighton to ski for a day...

heat wave

You know you live to far north when anything over 10 degrees feels like a heat wave. We will take it!

save handmade...

Recently Congress passed the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act. This requires anything being marketed to children 12 and under to under go third-party testing and labeling to prove that toys/items never had a single toxic chemical in them and still don't have a single toxic chemical in them. While in theory this is a good concept, it lacks the necessary stipulations to keep it from hurting small business and artisans. This law will basically kill the handmade artisan market for children's items. For example, it will be illegal for me to sell any of my children's jewelry after February 10 because none of it has undergone third party testing and labeling, and I won't be sending it to under go the testing and labeling either because it would cost thousands of dollars for the testing and since I make little off of children's jewelry it is not feasible. So for all of you who like to look at Etsy or the Farmer's Market or even the jewelry and other handmade children's goods at local boutiques, many of them will soon be unavailable. What I ask is that you write to your Congressman and Senator (especially if you live in Rep. Matheson's district since he is on the committee that oversees this law) and ask that this law be amended to not include businesses whose profit is under one million dollars. You can read more about this law and its effects here.

this is where we live

In case you were wondering, we live in the North Pole. It is freezing here and only going to get worse. While all you normal people are getting winds from the Pacific and places west of you, we are getting our winds and weather from the north, literally the arctic. I don't know how people who live even further north survive. My hat is off to you.
*Dave and Danielle- the weather is great, you should totally move here!

sionara suckers!

The dentist says the wisdom teeth must go, so hopefully sooner than later they will be gone. My bottom two are growing straight into my other teeth. Now we just need to get things in order with the oral surgeon.

home for the holidays part II

We got to go and watch the Utes beat Gonzaga...

Jackson and I at the game and then with two of my favorite people in the world.

Jacqueline's shower and date night with most of Jackson's siblings

The best part of Christmas for these two were the toothbrushes and the gum.

Yay for Christmas!

First things first.

Jackson let the cats go out to check out the snow

They weren't sold on the snow.

For my birthday Jackson surprised me and drove me to Detroit to see White Christmas the musical.

The Fox theatre was amazing.

Thank you Johnny Rockets for a sweet case of food poisoning.

Happy birthday to me. Hello mid-twenties!

Jackson's brother Dave flew out for some interviews. While he was here Ali and her boys drove down to see him.
