they say it's your birthday

And for the grand finale 10 of my favorite pictures and inconsequential facts and tidbits about Jackson.

10- His trademarks- knee socks and if you look very closely you can see the famous Jackson Owen sideburns.

9- For Jackson style is ALWAYS function over fashion.

8- He loves to make weird faces for the camera, particularly after the 100th picture.

7- sports fanatic. I am still waiting to see Jackson sport this hat to a football game with root beer on each side.

6- His crazy feet. They are long, they are flat, and they get crazy sprains.

5- He is a sports card collector and enthusiast. He has books upon books of sports cards.

4- He is actually the crazy cat person in our house. And consequently the only person Hermione does not hiss at.

3- When he whistles his chin gets very angular and long.

2- He truly is a dentist in training, he golfs at least once a week in the summer.

1- He is a Harry Potter lover and recently has become a dedicated reader. This is his best dementor impression.

Happy birthday Jacks!

the second day of Jackson

Don't worry the week of Jackson is almost over, to his great relief!

While we are on the subject of food products Jackson loves the most, let's talk about root beer. He is a connoisseur of root beer, have you ever heard anyone go on and on about the taste and bubbliness of root beer? Just ask Jackson.

Jackson has introduced me to all the fine details of rootbeer. His introduction of fancy root beers has included learning that root beer can come in kegs, Henry Weinhard's and Virgil's is not acceptable to use in a root beer float Barg's and A&W are acceptable and an allergic reaction to one fancy root beer for me.

the third day of Jackson

This is a picture of Jackson in his first year of college or in high school, I am not sure. Sometime after this point he lost his aviators and developed an unfounded dislike of sunglasses. It resembles his dislike of chapstick, he just decided they aren't necessary.

Until last year when we went to the art fair on his birthday and they had a deal on sunglasses, buy one pair get three free. Jackson couldn't resist so we both got two pairs of sunglasses.

He wears sunglasses all the time now.

day 4

There are two things that Jackson really, really loves- watermelon and slurpees/anything remotely related to the slurpee. He can eat obscene amounts of either of these.

5 days of Jackson

When Jackson decided what he wanted to do for his birthday/birthday weekend the choice was obvious- a tennis tournament! Last week Jackson had a week off from school so he alternated his time between practicing his serve and playing 9-18 holes of golf.

6 days of Jackson

Jackson's birthday countdown is on. 6 days till Friday! Fun Jackson fact for today, Jackson's chest hair has become infamous thanks to the night this picture was taken. He came in second for the ugly sweater contest solely on his chest hair.

New Flooring

Since we will be selling our place this next year, Cara and I decided to take out the carpet in our dining room and hallway, along with the linoleum in our kitchen and replace it all with a pergo wood floor.

Riping out our beautiful kitchen flooring
Ripping everything up is a lot easier than putting it in
Halfway there
The floors came in planks which were easy to put in if it was just a square room, but when we got to the corners and angles of the kitchen, a lot of measuring and cutting were needed
Cara's dad flew out to help us, and he was nice enough to buy us more saws than we knew existed.
Don't worry dad, that isn't blood splattered on the wall, only wood dust.

This is a before picture of our dining room, from when we first moved in 3 years ago
