Four years ago today Jackson flew to visit me in DC and proposed outside the Jefferson Monument. I took the metro from work to get him at the airport and then we took it to the Smithsonian so that we could walk to the Jefferson to "meet up" with his brother and his family. Unfortunately Jackson didn't realize how long a walk it would be and I was wearing my new shoes because they were so cute, I still have scars on the back of my heels from that walk... a small price to pay I guess. (for anyone who may think it is strange that I remember the date, Jackson made things easy for me. It all revolves around my birthday you see, I was born on Dec. 18, we went on our first date on April 18 and he proposed on Feb. 18. See Camille the world really does revolve around my birthday!)
P.S. we got married on the 13th not the 18th, that would have been way to cutesy...

jackson knows you so well. and let's be honest you probably didn't get married on the 18th because it was a thursday.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great day for the Winegar family. We are so glad you part of our family, Jackson. Cara you and your birthday are the best.
ReplyDeletethis is a great post. makes me laugh, so many fun memories of that time, and I can't believe we were engaged a day apart at the same place! I even remember your shoes, but I can't believe you still have scars!
ReplyDeleteAnd I remember the phone call we received in Nigeria, from Jackson, after that great event. We were so thrilled, but at the same time sad to be so far away.
ReplyDeletehaha love it! Too bad you did not get married on the 18th..that would have been perfect! Ok I remember once I wore these stupid shoes to a concert (yes beacuse they were so cute!) anyway they were full of blood by the time we walked home...oh boys they will never understand!!
